About the shop

A working bench, not a drop-off counter

We opened on Main Street in the Kentlands in 2000 and never moved. The repairs are done here, by hand, by the people who quote them — shoes, boots, handbags and luggage all on the same bench.

Our Story

A neighborhood cobbler, still at the same bench

The Craft Shoe Shop opened its doors in 2000 as a small family business with a simple belief: well-made things deserve to be repaired, not replaced. Two and a half decades later, we're still on Main Street in the Kentlands, still doing the work ourselves.

Our craftspeople handle everything from a quick heel tap to a full leather re-dye — the kind of specialty work most shops send away. Every item is inspected, quoted honestly, and finished by hand.

In recent years we expanded to a second location in Cape Coral, Florida, bringing the same bench, the same standards and the same care to a new community.

Why Choose Us

The difference is in the finish

  • Every leather item, one bench

Shoes, boots, handbags and suitcases are all repaired in the same shop by the same hands — you are not sent to three different specialists to put one wardrobe back together.

  • On Main Street since 2000

A quarter century in the same Kentlands storefront on Main Street, serving Gaithersburg and the towns around it.

  • Expert, in-house staff

Nothing is shipped out to a factory. Trained cobblers and leather workers do the work on site.

  • Hard-to-find specialties

Custom leather dyeing, color matching and designer handbag restoration few shops still offer.

Customer Stories

What our neighbors say

They resoled a pair of boots I'd almost given up on and they came back looking better than the day I bought them. Fair price, and done when they said it would be.
